What is Biofeedback?

Biofeedback is a system of techniques utilizing biological feedback signals that help the patient/client or practitioner assist the patient/client achieve or restore homeostasis (self-regulation).

There are 2 types of Biofeedback:

  1. Traditional: thermal, muscle relaxation, galvanic skin response (GSR), CO2 regulation, brain waves (EEG), Heart Rate Variability (HRT) combining various Eastern, Western and American Indian techniques (such as breathing, stretching, Yoga, Qi Gong, meditation).

  2. Neo-Biofeedback: utilizes traditional technology (such as HRV) with Western & Eastern techniques (e.g., Voll Technology).

 

One Goal:

Homeostasis: physiological stability in the face of a changing external or internal environment, or both
